Warriors’ Steve Kerr makes admission after making NBA history

Golden State Warriors head coach became the fourth-fastest head coach in NBA history to reach 600 career wins on Monday.
His Warriors defeated the Washington Wizards 125-117, which also marked the end of the wait to reach 600 wins. The Warriors had a five-game losing streak after his 599th career win on March 5 against the Houston Rockets, 115-113 in overtime.
Kerr knows the elite group is joining. He played for Phil Jackson with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s and Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2000s. Kerr has competed against Pat Riley-led teams many times.
"It's surreal to hear my name in that group, but I can tell you that one thing that bonds us all together — those names and mine — is talent," Kerr told reporters afterward. "You can't win in this league without great players, and I was blessed from the day I took this job with incredible talent."

Jackson reached 600 wins faster than anyone else, 805 games between the Bulls dynasty in the 1990s and the Los Angeles Lakers dynasty in the 2000s. Riley achieved this with his second-fastest contending teams in the NBA, including the Lakers, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat, between 1979 and 2008.
Popovich made it in 887 games with his Spurs dynasty in the 2000s. Kerr likewise built a dynasty with the Warriors in the 2010s, and he reached the 600-win mark in 943 games.
Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis provided the major spark on Monday with 30 points, five rebounds, two steals, three blocks, and four assists in the victory. He shot 61.5% from the field and nailed 92.5% of his free throws.
Porzingis and forward Draymond Green both returned from Monday, which helped the Warriors improve to 33-35 in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. Green contributed five points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in the win.
