JACKSON COUNTY, MI – The Jackson Rose Run returns to Jackson College on June 13, offering runners and walkers of all abilities a chance to participate in one of the community’s longest-standing athletic traditions.
The event, now in its 56th year, will feature eight different race options ranging from a half-mile kids run to a 10-mile course.
Sponsored by Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, P.C., the Rose Run is part of the ORS Race Series, with proceeds benefiting the Jets women’s soccer team.
Participants can choose from a 5K run, 5K walk, 10K run, 10-mile run, half-mile kids run, or virtual options for the 5K, 10K and 10-mile distances.
Andrew Hosmer, women’s soccer coach, said the event serves multiple purposes for the team beyond fundraising.
The race provides an early opportunity for players from different areas to meet before the season begins in August, he said.
“This early summer race provides running or walking enthusiasts an opportunity to stretch their legs on our amazing campus and the surrounding roadways, and for my players, they get the chance to come into contact with many different members of our community and embrace the Jackson spirit,” Hosmer said.
The 10-mile run will begin at 7:30 a.m., with other events starting at 8 a.m. The kids fun run is scheduled for approximately 9:30 a.m. All events will gather near the Jets Hangar off Browns Lake Road.
Registration is available at jacksonroserun.com. In-person events currently cost $35, excluding the kids run, while virtual events are $15.
Packet pickup will be held June 10 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jets Hangar, and again on race day from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
