March Madness is in full swing, and the entire Sweet 16 lineup will be set by the end of the evening on Sunday, March 23.
As always, the NCAA tournament has brought surprises. But, it's actually been a less dramatic run so far, with all of the No. 1 seeds still intact.
Now, one college basketball coach has announced that he's not retiring due to the success and passion that his team is showing in March Madness. This coach is an icon, too.
We're talking about Tom Izzo, the head coach of the Michigan State University Spartans. His team beat the Louisville Cardinals, 77-69, to make it to the Sweet 16 on Saturday, March 21, and during his postgame presser, he announced that the run has prolonged his time as head coach.
"You just prolonged my retirement for two years. That is the ultimate compliment," Izzo said when asked about his team's enthusiasm, according to T.N.T.'s Sports USA.
Izzo has been the head coach at Michigan State for 31 seasons. At 71 years old, he's one of the oldest coaches in the NCAA, but that's not stopping him from staying.

Following MSU's win on Saturday, Izzo told reporters, "This is tear-jerking for me because I'm watching guys grow in front of me like it's supposed to happen."
Izzo also got emotional, stating, "In this day and age, that's getting a little tougher to do. But I'm blessed. I am blessed, from the Magics to the Steve Smiths to the Cleaveses and all the people right up the road, all the people I've been somewhat associated with, they're the same people."

He added, "So I get credit for something that I just stole. I just kind of -- you know, I have those guys call my guys. I believe in what I believe in, and I believe that our job is to make them better for 70 years, not for 20. "So if you think that no matter what team you saw, you see similar things, ultimate compliment. Thank you."
