Michigan’s girls high school soccer playoffs begin Wednesday with Round 1 district tournament games, and at this point in the season, the best squads have established themselves. But the final set of rankings from the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association still featured some movement in each of the four divisions, particularly in Division 2, where seven squads moved up in the poll after a strong finish to the regular season. Otsego and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s were the division’s two biggest risers, as each moved up two spots following wins over state-ranked opponents. Otsego secured a 2-1 victory over Division 3 No. 5 West Michigan Aviation Academy, while OLSM earned a pair of 2-1 wins over D4 No. 2 Clarkston Everest Collegiate and D3 No. 9 Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard. Also in D2, Bloomfield Hills Marian moved up one spot to No. 3 following a 4-1 win over D3 No. 4 Warren Regina in the Catholic High School League finals, and Forest Hills Central also climbed one spot to No. 7 after a 2-1 victory over D1 No. 5 Portage Central. In Division 1, Rochester Adams rose two spots to No. 3 after a 7-0 throttling of D2 No. 13 Waterford Kettering, while Hartland moved up three spots to No. 7 following a 3-0 win over D1 No. 6 Northville in the KLAA tournament finals. In Division 3, Frankenmuth climbed two spots to No. 8 after a 1-0 win over D3 No. 14 Essexville Garber. In Division 4, Bath rose four spots to No. 3 following a 3-1 victory over D4 No. 14 Laingsburg, while Kalamazoo Hackett climbed two spots to No. 12 after a 1-1 tie with rival and seventh-ranked Kalamazoo Christian.
