U.S. men's national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a reportedly a top candidate to return to Tottenham after the World Cup.
First-year manager Thomas Frank is under increasing pressure after the north London side has gone winless in its last five matches across all competitions, including Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home against relegation-threatened West Ham.
Spurs may be on the brink of parting ways with the Danish manager, who has Tottenham in 14th place.
According to multiple reports. Spurs could potentially seek the services of Pochettino, who was at the helm from 2014 to 2019.
Per Football Insider, the Argentine is open to the possibility of rejoining Tottenham when his USMNT contract expires after the World Cup.
talkSPORT reports that Spurs would likely appoint an interim manager until the end of the year if they sack Frank, allowing the club to have more options in the summer.
Despite his undivided attention on the upcoming World Cup, Pochettino has previously expressed his desire to return to the Premier League.
"Yeah, I watch a lot," the Argentinian manager said in an interview last month with the BBC. "The Premier League is the best in the world. Of course I miss it.
"I am so happy in the USA, but I am always thinking about returning one day. It is the most competitive league, and of course I would love to come back again."
Pochettino is currently preparing the USMNT for March friendlies against Belgium and Portugal before the World Cup commences in June.
