Two of the best players in the world get set to do battle on Thursday night, as Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins pay a visit to the Edmonton Oilers and their captain, Connor McDavid. Fans will be treated to seeing a couple of future Hall of Famers engage in what should be a thrilling battle between two players who will be on the same side in just a few weeks time during the 2026 Winter Olympics. McDavid and Crosby are two of the NHL’s biggest stars, and are doing their best to keep their teams in the hunt for the postseason. In Milan next month, they will both be trying to bring the gold medal back home to Canada. Crosby’s Penguins have been playing well above expectations, with the team currently sitting tied for second in the Metropolitan Division. McDavid has been a key part of getting Edmonton out of an early-season slump to be back in contention for the Pacific Division title. The Oilers are second in the Pacific, two points back of the Vegas Golden Knights for first place. This is the second and final time these two teams will face off this season. Not long after the Pens and Oilers engaged in a trade that sent Tristan Jarry to Edmonton in exchange for Stuart Skinner, the Oilers came away with a 6-4 win in Pittsburgh a little over a month ago.
