How to watch the Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Red Wings - NHL (10/12/24)

DETROIT -- After a disappointing loss to start the season, the Detroit Red Wings look to pick up their first win in 2024-25, as they host the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. While many people’s attention might have been turned toward a game happening just across Woodward, the Red Wings had a good start to their home opener on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, a lackluster second period and poor play from goaltender Ville Husso led to a 6-3 defeat. It was an unfortunate reminder of the types of mistakes Detroit has made over the past few seasons that led to them consistently missing the playoffs. Obviously, it is just one game, and the Wings have plenty of time to fix their woes, but they need to show signs of improvement to give Hockeytown optimism about this year’s team. The Predators also opened up their season with a loss, as they fell to the defending Central Division champion Dallas Stars on Thursday night. Even with their slow start, many are excited about Nashville this season, despite goaltender Juuse Saros starting the season on the injured list. With the additions of Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, the Preds have plenty of firepower to be a playoff contender once again. These teams will also play next Saturday in Smashville.
