A high school basketball coach praised as being a “great role model for young people” has been arrested for having “deviant sexual intercourse with a student” — with her husband, a fellow basketball coach at the same school, also filing for divorce and demanding full custody of their child. Paige Adams, 35, was indicted by a grand jury on more than 30 sex crimes Tuesday – less than one month after abruptly resigning from her role at Cold Springs High School in Alabama. The charges include “engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student,” sexual contact involving a pupil under 19 and distributing obscene material to a student, CBS42 reported. “This 32-count grand jury indictment speaks for itself,” Champ Crocker, the Cullman County District Attorney, told the outlet of the charges that could see her facing 31 years in prison. The girls’ team coach was once labeled “a great role model for the young people of Cullman County” by school district superintendent Shane Barnette. She quit soon after a complaint was forwarded to the authorities, Barnette told 1819News. “This is the first formal complaint I have received regarding this employee,” the district superintendent said. “As soon as the concern was brought forward, an investigation was immediately initiated. The employee chose to resign at that time.” She resigned after leading the Cold Springs Eagles girls team to the state championship in what was her first and only season as coach. Soon after she resigned, her husband, Drew, filed for divorce and sought full custody of their son, Parker. Drew Adams coaches boys basketball at the school, assuming the role in April last year. They had been married for 15 years. “I rarely got to see Parker or Paige many weeknights this past season because we were always playing at separate places. Now we can be at the same place on a nightly basis,” Drew told the Cullman Tribune, speaking about his appointment, She was released from jail after posting a $225,000 bond but is forced to wear an electronic tag. It was not immediately clear how old the accuser was, beyond the charge saying a student under 19.
