Former UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik was arrested Monday in Florida on charges of domestic violence battery and false imprisonment, according to police records. Rozenstruik, 37, was arrested by officers with the Pembroke Pines Police Department, according to Local 10 News in Miami. As of Thursday morning, Rozenstruik – a native of Suriname – was being kept on an immigration hold at Broward County Main Jail. The incident occurred Monday and involved Rozenstruik’s wife, with whom he has two children, according to the police report. The woman, who initially left the scene, later returned and told officers that she and Rozenstruik had gotten into a verbal argument while they were driving from their storage unit. She said Rozenstruik slapped her hand, causing her cell phone to fall to the car floor, after she ignored him. After she continued to ignore him, Rozenstruik slapped her hand again, authorities said. The couple then arrived at a Bank of America, where Rozenstruik grabbed his wife’s arm and prevented her from exiting the vehicle, according to the report. After the argument continued, Rozenstruik attempted to kiss the woman, which she rejected and told him he was a “nasty beast,” authorities said. Rozenstruik allegedly responded by biting the woman on the bicep. The argument continued as the couple arrived at Club Fit Plaza, where Rozenstruik is accused of again preventing his wife from exiting their vehicle. The victim responded by punching Rozenstruik in the face and exiting the car. When police arrived at the scene, the victim had a visible bite mark on her right bicep, a red scratch/bruise under her right eye, and redness on both forearms, according to the report. Rozenstruik initially made “vague allegations” about his wife pushing him, Local 10 News reports, but later became uncooperative with officers. He later told officers his wife punched him in the face multiple times because he was “aggressively getting in her face during the argument,” police said. Rozenstruik, nicknamed “Bigi Boy,” fought in UFC’s heavyweight division from 2019-2025, posting a 15-6 career record. His last UFC match came at UFC Fight Night on Feb. 1, 2025, where he lost to Sergei Pavlovich via unanimous decision. He was released by UFC two days later on Feb. 3. Following his UFC career, Rozenstruik has also fought in the Dirty Boxing Championship, according to ESPN.
