KALAMAZOO, MI — Two men were involved in a physical fight at a rivalry boys basketball game between Loy Norrix and Kalamazoo Central on Friday, Jan. 16, at Loy Norrix High School.
There were six minutes and 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter when the fight took place in the front row of the bleachers on the Kalamazoo Central side of the stands.
One man, in jeans and a black hoodie, could be seen throwing a punch at another man, dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt.
Both men wrestled on the ground before KPS Campus Safety broke up the altercation.
The men were escorted from the gym.
“There was a physical altercation that we quickly broke up and we removed the people involved from the gymnasium,” KPS superintendent Darrin Slade said. “It will be addressed tomorrow.”
The fight caused about a 15-minute delay and the game was completed after the men were removed.
