“The Sims 4″ added more than 15 million players over the past year, Electronic Arts reported Tuesday in its latest quarterly earnings report, just ahead of the life-simulation game’s release of its new “Life & Death” expansion pack Thursday. The video game publisher also touted that it expects its “Madden” and “College Football” franchises to cross a combined $1 billion in sales by the end of its current fiscal year next March. In its second-quarter fiscal 2025 report, which covers July 1-Sept. 30, EA said it will be reporting “Madden” and “College Football” figures together under its “American Football” division from here on out, while “EA Sports FC” results will be classified as “Global Football.” “EA delivered another strong quarter with record Q2 net bookings, driven by our incredible teams, broad portfolio and technology leadership,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in a letter to shareholders. “The momentum in our business reinforces our strategic vision to deliver innovative experiences and interactive entertainment that deepens and expands engagement across our global communities.” Click here to subscribe to Variety‘s free Strictly Business newsletter covering media earnings, financial and investment news and more. We remain confident in our ability to drive long-term value creation through increased scale, driving top-line growth, improved margins, and greater cash flow as shared at our Investor Day.” Wall Street forecast earnings per share (EPS) of $2.03 on $2.04 billion in revenue, according to analyst consensus data provided by LSEG, formerly Refinitiv. EA reported non-GAAP results of EPS of $2.15 on $2.1 billion in net bookings.
