Eight additional stations will join the six owned by Tegna to broadcast all Mavericks games not exclusively televised nationally this season. This season's Dallas Mavericks games will be viewable for free for 14 million people in Texas through an expansion of the the NBA team's broadcast agreement. It was announced Oct. 17 that in addition to the previously announced six stations owned by Tegna Inc., Mavs games will be available on eight stations owned by other broadcasters. The deal is for all Mavericks games that aren't exclusively televised nationally — at least 70 in the first season. The newly added stations are KFDA 10.2 in Amarillo (owned by Gray), KDBC 4.2 in El Paso (Sinclair), KGBT 4.1 in Harlingen-Brownsville (Nexstar), KXNU 10.2 in Laredo (Gray), KMYL 14.1 in Lubbock (Gray), KXII 12.2 in Sherman (Gray), KSHV 45.1 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Texarkana (Nexstar) and KJBO 3.2 in Wichita Falls and Lawton, Oklahoma (Nexstar). Brad Ramsey, senior vice president of media operations at Tegna (NYSE: TGNA), in a statement said the company was "thrilled by the positive response from fans and advertising partners as we gear up to significantly expand the reach of Mavs games." He said he was "grateful to our partner stations from Gray, Nexstar, and Sinclair." The Mavericks in September announced a multi-year deal with Tegna, parent company of Dallas station WFAA, after the team's last broadcast deal with Bally Sports fell apart. Bally parent Diamond Sports Group is going through a messy bankruptcy. "Providing access to games has always been our top priority,” stated Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall, who recently announced her retirement. "We are thrilled to work with WFAA to bring more fun and excitement to all of our MFFLs across North Texas and beyond." The first game to air will be a matchup between the Mavs and the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 26.
