Can North Carolina force a winner-take-all Game 3 at the College World Series against Oklahoma?
The No. 5 Tar Heels fell to the unseeded Sooners 9-3 in Game 1 of the national championship series on Saturday, June 20. Oklahoma touched up ace Jason DeCaro for seven earned runs, the first time he has allowed more than three earned runs in a game this season.
Facing the Sooners' red-hot offense will be right-hander Ryan Lynch, who owns a 4.20 ERA this season. Oklahoma will trot out true freshman Xander Mercurius, who was outstanding in his CWS start against No. 3 Georgia earlier in the tournament.
Oklahoma is looking to take home its first national title since 1994 with a win, whereas North Carolina is hoping to force another day as it searches for its first championship in program history.
