The Yankees and outfielder Brennen Davis have agreed to a minor league deal, according to Just Baseball.
Davis was a former top prospect of the Chicago Cubs, but injuries kept him limited for the last few seasons. In 2024, he played just 55 games. Davis was supposed to be a part of Chicago’s outfield core after their World Series run in 2016 but the injuries kept him from his rise to the major league.
The injuries Davis has faced have included a pitch to the face, back surgery and an ankle fracture.
Davis was a second-round pick of the Cubs in 2018. He was promoted to Triple-A last year and hit .214 with a .828 OPS with 11 home runs and 28 RBI over 181 plate appearances.
The 25-year-old was ranked Baseball America’s #16 prospect in the league going into 2022.
