The New York Yankees have struggled to make big moves this offseason. While they've been closely connected to multiple top free agents, they haven't pulled off a huge deal. They whiffed on Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette this month, which turns the heat up on their pursuit of Cody Bellinger. Just Baseball's Ryan Finkelstein predicted the Yankees would re-sign Bellinger to a six-year, $180 million contract in the coming weeks. "Same team prediction, but we will adjust the contract based on the recent reporting," Finkelstein wrote. "Bellinger and the Yankees are in a heated contract negotiation, one which New York has already threatened to walk away from. They reportedly have a five-year deal on the table that would pay Bellinger north of $30 million per, but Bellinger is looking for a seven-year deal. I think they meet in the middle on a six-year deal, which could pay Bellinger $30 million per season." The Yankees can't afford to miss on Bellinger after the brutal whiffs of Tucker and Bichette. Tucker landed with the Dodgers while Bichette landed with the Mets. Both of these additions make the Yankees' pursuit of a World Series harder than it was last year. As a result, the Bronx Bombers need to be willing to give Bellinger the money and contract length that he's asking for. If they lose him, the odds of getting to the World Series would be lower than Yankees fans are used to. More MLB: Bo Bichette Reportedly Turned Down 7-Year, $200M Contract For Mets Deal
