No, Pablo Torre isn't 'sitting' on a Jalen Brunson investigation

New York Knicks fans, breathe. Journalist Pablo Torre isn't doing a big investigation into how he got to the Big Apple like he did with Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers. Torre's work to unearth the explosive Aspiration-Leonard-Clippers scandal has left that player's Toronto Raptors trade in limbo, but a quick comment to Dan Patrick about possibly investigating how the Knicks signed Brunson left Torre as persona non grata in New York with fans. “I’m getting stopped on the street regularly by people saying, ‘Leave Jalen Brunson alone,’” Torre told Variety's Marlow Stern in a profile published on Tuesday. “It’s been a consistent theme as a New Yorker of people threatening me. Even Rick Brunson reached out to me being like, ‘What are you up to?!’” As Stern's detailed profile clarifies, Torre is not "sitting on some investigation” of Brunson at the moment. While the Knicks NBA Finals MVP did sign a lower-than-expected deal with New York back in 2022, it doesn't appear that one of the best sports investigative journalists working has any sort of big scoop on Brunson. It was more likely just a flippant remark to Patrick from Torre on the heels of his marquee Leonard investigation. Maybe let Torre be on the streets of New York; we probably shouldn't expect Aspiration 2.0 anytime soon... with Brunson, at least. When will the NBA be finished with the Leonard investigation? We're not sure, but most likely before the season in October.
