N.J. basketball star adds to record-setting rookie year. Should she have been WNBA’s No. 1 pick?

The Phillipsburg native just became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists. She hit those marks in just 22 games. She made history on draft night when she was selected No. 2 overall by the Minnesota Lynx. Miles tied Diamond Miller, who was drafted No. 2 overall back in 2023, as the highest-drafted player from New Jersey. The star guard has been on a record-setting pace ever since and the question now has to be asked. Should Miles have been the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft? She’s averaging 19.3 points, 5.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this season for the Lynx. Miles made the starting lineup for the WNBA All-Star Game. In high school, Miles starred at Blair Academy. She led the Bucs to a state championship in 2020. Miles also played soccer at Blair, scoring 34 career goals. She left Blair to enroll early at Notre Dame in 2021, skipping her senior season at the prep school. Miles was a 5-star recruit and ranked No. 8 in the country. The 5-foot-10 point guard was a two-time second-team All-American at Notre Dame. Miles transferred to TCU and was named an All-American again, averaging 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.
