Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby spoke out about the failed trade that nearly landed him with the Baltimore Ravens. Crosby, who was traded to the Ravens for two first-round draft picks, had to undergo an intensive physical. The exam focused on his knee, which required surgery earlier this year to repair a meniscus injury. He detailed the entire process on his podcast, “The Rush with Maxx Crosby.” “Maybe an hour in, or an hour and a half in, to go get MRIs and X-rays and all that (bleep),” Crosby said. “They drove me 10-15 minutes down the street and I had to go do all these tests and things that I’ve had in my career. I had my labrum done before, I had my knee, I had my ankle … all type of (bleep). They had to do all those scans again just to make sure everything was good. I’m doing all these scans — they took forever.” After the tests were finished, Crosby said he was looking forward to meeting general manager Eric DeCosta but did not see him for most of the day, which he found odd. Crosby finally met with DeCosta at the end of the day, when he learned the Ravens had concerns about his knee. “I go into the room and they sit me down on the couch,” Crosby explained. “He (DeCosta) is like, ‘Man, I don’t know how to say this, but one of our doctors has concerns with the results with your knee and some of them are concerned about the future. We really want you, and this is what it is, but we’re just going to have to get more and more opinions.’” Upon hearing the news, Crosby was in disbelief and reached out to everyone he could, including his agents and surgeon Neal ElAttrache. ElAttrache told him not to worry about the knee issue. One of Crosby’s agents suggested the Ravens were trying to back out of the trade, which eventually happened. The trade was called off and Crosby remained with the Raiders, which he took as a sign he was meant to stay in Las Vegas. “Everyone’s got their own theory, conspiracy theory,” Crosby said. “No one really will ever admit, on either side, what the real truth is or whatever. And ultimately, it doesn’t even matter. I am where I’m supposed to be. I know that. I’ll just say that.”
