Lerone Murphy reveals he suffered UFC London injury after bloody loss to Evloev

LERONE MURPHY has revealed he suffered an injury in his ill-fated showdown with Movsar Evloev. The Manchester mauler suffered his first-ever loss in the main event of UFC London on Saturday night. Murphy started the contest well, but Evloev, who showed much-improved striking, took over in the later rounds and ground out a massive win in his pursuit of featherweight gold. ‘The Miracle’ appeared to fade in the contest after slipping on the canvas in the third. And in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, he revealed: “My hip popped in the third round.” Murphy, however, refused to blame his maiden loss on the mid-fight ailment. “I’ll be back. I’ve got work to do, but I’ll be back.” Murphy showed even more class by vouching for Evloev to get the next title shot. He said: “Sorry for not giving you a fight. But, I’ll be back, don’t you worry.” Victory over Murphy saw Russian wrecking machine Evloev stretch his record to a perfect 20-0 In his post-fight interview, he said: “I told you, I’m a better striker than him – joke. “With Mike my head coach, we prepared for level change attacks. “I think my punches are hard, I can hurt an opponent even if I didn’t finish him. “But look at his face, he’s damaged. I showed, I don’t necessarily have to use my wrestling to get wins. “[Alexander Volkanovski] mentioned my name a lot of times, I’m accepting his challenge. let’s f***ing fight. “UFC, there is no excuses to not let me fight for the title.”
