Kyle Tucker's free agency ended with a reported four-year, $240 million agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tucker was the best free agent on the market and turned down offers from the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays. The Mets and Blue Jays were the other reported finalists for Tucker. The Mets reportedly offered him $220 million for four years with a $75 million signing bonus and no deferrals. It was a similar offer to the Dodgers, but the Blue Jays took a different approach. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays offered him a long-term deal. The Blue Jays' reported offer was a 10-year, $350 million deal. Going into free agency, Tucker was expected to sign a lucrative long-term deal. Ultimately, he chose a deal with a high average annual value and fewer years. Tucker's deal with the Dodgers includes opt-outs after the second and third years. He also received a $64 million signing bonus. The benefit of a shorter agreement is that he can make plenty of money in the next two years, and then hit the market again in search of a longer deal. The Blue Jays made a competitive offer, but it was not enough. Tucker likely feels he can get a better average annual value than $35 million on a long-term deal after two seasons in Los Angeles. The Blue Jays still had a great offseason, adding Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Tyler Rogers and Kazuma Okamoto. More MLB: Kyle Tucker Agreement Leads to Dodgers Outfield Being ‘Potential Strength’
