Jannik Sinner is one game away from winning the Italian Open, having battled through physical issues to book his place in the final. The home favourite will go up against Casper Ruud later today after digging deep to beat Daniil Medvedev in the last four. That match took place over two days after torrential rain wreaked havoc in Rome on Friday night, forcing the remainder to be played on Saturday.
Sinner struggled physically throughout the encounter and appeared to vomit on court at one point, but fought through it to get the job done in three sets. He will be looking to follow up by claiming some more silverware with victory over Ruud in today's final. Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to win but will need to be at his best to ward off the possibility of an upset.
