FSU baseball roster outlook: Where do the Seminoles stand after MLB Draft

Florida State baseball has been active in the transfer portal after the 2026 MLB Draft impacted the Seminoles' incoming roster. The Seminoles saw seven players selected, with the likes of first baseman Myles Bailey, pitcher Wes Mendes and outfielder Brayden Dowd among the highest picks. Prep prospects like Landon Thome and Kaden Waechter were picked early, with Thome already signed to the Chicago White Sox and Waecthr picked, but not signed yet, to the San Francisco Giants. While the draft has impacted the Seminoles' roster construction for next season, the program has added some help from the transfer portal. There were some wins for the program in the draft, including the return of standout reliever John Abraham, who wasn't selected. Here is an updated look at the Seminoles' roster. Who has FSU baseball added to the roster via the transfer portal? With the loss of Bailey and Eli Putnam out of eligibility, the Seminoles needed help at first base. The program addressed it with the addition of Northwestern first baseman Nick Barron, a player the program signed just days after Bailey was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Barron hit .295 last season for Northwestern, with 15 doubles and nine home runs. He doesn't have the 80-grade power that Bailey does; however, you'd be hard-pressed to find that anywhere. But Barron will hit the dimensions at Dick Howser Stadium well. FSU added further help in the lineup with players like Indiana transfer shortstop Cooper Malamazian and Georgia outfielder Ty Peeples. Both players will come to Tallahassee with the expectation of being starters, and multiple years of eligibility left in the tank. Malamazian, a sophomore, hit .301 for Indiana last season. He had 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 36 RBI in 51 games. Peeples attended Georgia for his freshman season, and he hit .294 in 17 plate appearances. There was limited room for Peeples on a loaded Bulldog roster, which finished third at the College World Series. The most recent addition for the Seminoles is Texas transfer infielder Callum Early, who is the brother of Boston Red Sox pitcher Connelly Early. The lefty started his career at Liberty before transferring to Texas, where he made limited appearances. Alongside the additions in the field, the Seminoles added multiple arms in Isaiah Shayter from Penn State and Otto Espinoza from Cal.
