Drake Maye views Super Bowl loss as learning experience before Year 3

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots came up just short this past NFL season, falling to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. Maye struggled in his Super Bowl debut, completing 27 of his 43 pass attempts for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Patriots lost 29-13. While this was no doubt a tough pill to swallow for Maye, he's since adopted a positive outlook as he prepares for his third NFL season in 2026. "I wish we would have won it; I have to play better," Maye told attendees at his camp last week, via ESPN. "You give your best, sometimes things don't go your way, and that's why you have to get back to work. I think that's the best thing about life — there are times when you don't get what you worked for, but you get back to work, have to have the right mindset, and know it's not always going to be easy." Maye, who entered the league as the Patriots' No. 3 overall pick in 2024, saw marked improvement in Year 2. He completed a league-leading 72% of his pass attempts for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions — finishing second in NFL MVP voting behind Matthew Stafford. The Patriots will begin their 2026 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 Super Bowl rematch against the Seahawks on Sept. 9.
