Dana White, the president and CEO of the UFC, posted a scathing video of the World Cup’s production team, telling them they “absolutely fucking suck.” During the World Cup Final on Sunday, there were several notable instances of the production team misidentifying public figures. A commentator confused singer Pharrell Williams with rapper A$AP Rocky, and another misidentified Secretary of State Marco Rubio as soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, per Yahoo Sports. Dana White said he had teed up the World Cup team to “hit a grand slam home run.” “Even though everybody on my team was arguing with me, saying that you are the worst, I said, ‘No, we’re the worst. They didn’t f*ck it up as bad as we did,’” White said on his now-expired Instagram Stories. “What do you guys do? You triple down today and you just go, ‘F**k you, Dana White. You’re not beating us. We’re the worst production team in the history of sports to ever show celebrities.’ I bow down. Congratulations to the producers of the World Cup. You guys win.” White also took note of a mistimed flyover during the national anthem: “You guys fucked up that flyover too. I’m not gonna nitpick, I’m just giving you credit where credit is due. You guys absolutely fucking suck. We’re the second worst.” White had previously criticized his own production team for misidentifying their own UFC fighter, Shakur Stevenson, as NBA star Jalen Williams at UFC 329. The World Cup final also drew criticism for not having an atmosphere worthy of the event. The final took place at 3 p.m. in broad daylight, the first halftime performance was taped and only played on the jumbotron, and the closing ceremony — featuring influencer IShowSpeed and music artist Post Malone — felt pre-recorded and lip-synced.
