One of the Chicago Bears' marquee free agent moves this offseason was signing former Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant to a three-year deal worth $40 million, per ESPN. While Bryant was looking for a major payday, he hinted that the money wasn't the only factor in his decision.
Bryant is coming off winning a Super Bowl with the Seahawks last season. As a result, it's no surprise the 26-year-old wanted to go somewhere he could continue playing for a winning team like the Bears, who are coming off winning the NFC North.
On the March 19 edition of "Up & Adams," Bryant made it known that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams also played a role in his decision-making process.
"It's always tough leaving Seattle," Bryant told host Kay Adams. "Just what we've built for the last two years with Coach Mike [Macdonald], all my brothers. That was definitely the toughest thing about leaving those guys. But with Caleb Williams, the special talent he is, the leader he is.
"He actually reached out to me. He was the first person to reach out to me after I signed, and we were texting back and forth, catching up and getting to know each other. I was telling him what we could build and going off of that. Just for him reaching out to me meant a lot, honestly. With me playing safety, him being quarterback, and him recognizing my game and vice versa."
Williams is coming off a breakout 2025 season in which he recorded a passer rating of 90.1 with 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 17 regular games, per StatMuse.

Moreover, the Bears were one game away from reaching the NFC title game, but lost in the divisional round to the Los Angeles Rams. It's because of last season's production that Bryant believes that Williams is only scratching the surface of his potential.
"Elite talent," Bryant added. "He's just scratching the surface, honestly. Like I said in the press conference last week, I'm excited to watch him play and watch him be great this year for sure."
